About Us

D-Vision's (Video) Slots
This is an older archive of our reviews
dating back to the end of 2004 and first half
of 2005.  The introduction of video slot potpourri
helps me out as the number of machines to
review starts to run out.  It also enables
me to use many of the pictures that were
sitting on my memory stick.

The in-between Clayvision ads and misc
video slot photos started to pop up.

Here is the list of machines reviewed on this page:
Denver Duck and the Quest for the Golden Egg,
Wynn Windfall™, Shake Your Booty™,
Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail,
Don Ho's Kahuna Kash™, Star Wars™,
Hot Flashes™, Ghost Island™,
Gilligan's Island,
and many more in the Potpourri

(Disclaimer:  I am not instructing you to dump
your life savings into slot machines.  In fact, the
smartest thing to do would probably be to keep
your money in your mattress...
but what fun is that?)

Denver Duck and the Quest for the Golden Egg
Reel (long title) Video Slots
(07/27/05)

Jackpot:
Five Denver Duck™ symbols
on any line with max coins bet.

The Good:
The bonus game is featured on a 15 inch LCD screen
above the reels.  You get to pick which direction to send
your Indiana Jones-ish Duck explorer as he grabs credits
through the different paths.  Denver picks up a color key that will
unlock the corresponding colored lock should you come
across it.  Unlocking the cage, will gain you a multiplier for
your final bonus.  It is a definite change to watch the reels
spin like a regular slot machine although you can watch
the video version on the LCD screen above.

duckbonus1b.jpg (18315 bytes)

The Bad:
The machine is a 2-center, which isn't all that bad.  15 lines
aren't that bad either.  However, to play the bonus game,
you will probably have to get out of your seat to touch
the screen to choose paths during the bonus game.
A little exercise doesn't hurt anybody...

duckbonus2b.jpg (18642 bytes)

Best Win:
Our best win is pictured below as we managed to
find the right multiplier, which doubled our winnings.
A cool $7.96 for a 30 cent bet isn't bad...

duckbonus4b.jpg (17032 bytes)

Locations:
Look for this duck in the 2 cent reel video slot bank
with games like Buck's Ahoy and Tabasco.

More info:

 duckbonus3b.jpg (18489 bytes)
Don't ask me why I took so many pictures of this game?
I probably was extremely salty and hadn't seen a bonus game
in quite a while.  I know the lady next to me thought I was crazy...

wynnbonusb.jpg (21553 bytes)
Wynn Windfall?
Exclusive Wynn Video Slots
(07/20/05)

Jackpot:
Five Wynn Casino™ symbols
on any line with max coins bet.

The Good:
An exclusive Wynn Casino video slot that features
owner Steve Wynn in the wheel bonus game.  You get to
pick squares until you match 3 similar 'spin' symbols  Kind
of like the Tabasco bonus game, except you are playing for
spins (to win credits) instead of credits.  Meanwhile, you can
pick up multipliers to increase your final credit total.
I can't say I remember if there was another bonus game as
we were only able to play for a short amount of time.

wynnbonus2b.jpg (23799 bytes)

The Bad:
I believe 60 lines in a video slot machine is a bad thing.
While it seems as though it should be easier to line symbols
up, it usually means your bankroll disappears 2 to 3 times as fast.

Best Win:
We did get the bonus game, as pictured above, and cashed
in about 2500 coins as we luckily got a good multiplier.
However, the computer system went down and their whole
ticket in - ticket out system crashed.  That left everybody
waiting for handpay on any cash out.  I guess we were on
a lucky machine as a slot attendant was standing right next
to us as we cashed out and we didn't have to wait!

Locations:
Look for it only in the new Wynn casino...

More info:
Visit Wynn Casino's official website

The Wynn Casino's buffet... I'm definitely going to

shakeyourbooty2b.jpg (24631 bytes)
Shake Your Booty
Adventure on the High Seas Video Slots
(06/08/05)

Jackpot:
Five Shake Your Booty™ symbols
on any line with max coins bet
wins the pirate's booty (jackpot).

The Good:
A very entertaining bonus game. (if you can get it)
You get to pick 3 of 7 pirates who then strut their
booty/stuff for you.  Each will pour credits from their treasure
as they dance around the screen.  If you are fortunate
enough you can find a pirate that has a multiplier or one
that will award you with an extra pick.  The other bonus game
is identical to the Uncle Sam flag bonus, where if you line
up 2 or more jewels (or treasure chests), you get 3 bonus
spins to get more jewels on the other 3 reels.

shakeyourbootyb.jpg (25867 bytes)

The Bad:
These penny machines can sometimes be a little
stingy when it comes to giving you the bonus game.
There is a cannon bonus game that I have never seen.

shakeyourbooty3b.jpg (18933 bytes)

Best Win:
We lined up an incredible 5 Mermaid bonus symbols,
got an extra pick, and found the bonus multiplier!
However, I was a little disappointed in only getting
600 credits.  We were playing one coin per line.
shakebootybonus200.jpg (18033 bytes)

Only 600 credits is a small reward!

montytopbonus200.jpg (19487 bytes)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Slapstick Video Slots
(06/01/05)

Jackpot:
Five Holy Grail™ symbols
on the first pay line with max coins bet
wins the Megajackpots progressive jackpot.

The Good:
Great graphics, sound, and the overall design of the machine.
The Holy Grail bonus game features a game board above
the machine.  You keep rolling the dice and compile free win
spins until you land on one of the corners of the game board.
Then, you will be presented with a choice of taking the free
win spins or playing a bonus game.  There are three different mini
bonus games, the Black Knight, Trojan Rabbit, or French Castle.
If you rack up a lot of spins, it may be more beneficial to pick
the spins as opposed to the bonus game.  There is also a Grab
a Goblet bonus where you are shown 3 goblets with there credit
value and then they are mixed up on screen as you watch.
Don't blink as you will need to follow the goblet to get the most
credits.  Since this was a TV show, there is the obligatory clip
bonus where you pick a scene bonus where you get to watch
a clip of a classic Monty Python moment.

montyknightbonus200.jpg (17152 bytes)

The Bad:
Only available in nickel flavors at this point in time.
If you are like us, that's expensive to cover the 15 lines.
75 nickels are required to win the Mega-jackpot.
That's $3.75 a spin... ouch!

montybonuschoice200.jpg (14921 bytes)

Best Win:
Here is something we found out... the win spins max out at
50 free spins.  We were automatically sent to the free spins
but only were able to do about 400 credits in damage with
our 50 free win spins.  You'd think we'd do better considering
every spin was a winner...

Locations:
We played it at the Vegas Club and it is popping up
at all the casinos now...

lifestyles200.jpg (21674 bytes)
Lifestyles of the Rich and Gullible
I have just poured money into this machine and finally
got the bonus game.  I felt like I was playing some Price is Right
game as you have to pick one item from each row, then it tells
you how many items you have worth 100, 50, 20, 10, or 5.
Without actually knowing which items are worth what, you are
given two chances to change any picks.  I was hoping for
something better, but think of all the money I will save by not
having to play this game in the future!

oncearound200.jpg (20367 bytes)
Monopoly None Around Deluxe
Another game where I pour in money and don't get to see the
bonus game for a long time... We finally got to play the Once
Around Bonus game, but burned through the board in 5 rolls
conviently landing on only 3 low valued properties.  However,
we did land on 'Go', which allowed us to Go Twice Around.
We somewhat took our time around, but didn't land on any
of the big properties on the right side of the screen...

passwordbonus200.jpg (20886 bytes)
Password Minus
Here is one of the current games where the bonus game is still
eluding me.  I keep playing this machine, especially since I can
find this game in penny flavor, but neither bonus game has
appeared.  I had to take the picture above of a neighboring
gambler's machine.  You can imagine how that conversation went:
"Excuse me, but can I take a picture of your screen...
you see, I've been playing this game for a long time and
I haven't been able to get the bonus game... and I am running
out of money and patience... and I have this website that I
need the picture for ... and..."
"Just take the picture you loser!"

priceisright5ken200.jpg (22823 bytes)
The Price (Used to be) Right
Is there a way to tighten up the bonus game on machines?
In the past year, when we get to the Showcase bonus game,
I would say the odds of us getting past the wheel spinning part of
the bonus game is about once in every 7 attempts.  A couple
years ago, we almost always made it to the Showcase Showdown.
Spinning the wheel was never a problem...
Normally, you see people get all happy when they line up the
three showcase bonus symbols... not us.  You'll recognize us
as the people who intensely play the wheel part of the bonus
and don't celebrate until we make it to the Showcase Showdown.

unclesamflagbonus200.jpg (21909 bytes)
Uncle Slam
Just like taxes, this machine used to reach into my wallet
and take its share of money on every trip to Vegas.  We finally
came across a machine that actually gave us some money
back on our last trip.  We got the flag bonus an amazing
four times and also landed both of the other bonus games.
Will I give Uncle Sam more money the next time I visit... probably!

kahunabonus200.jpg (22803 bytes)
Don Ho's Kahuna Kash
Hang Loose Video Slots
(05/11/05)

Jackpot:
Five Kahuna Kash™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet
wins a progressive jackpot.

The Good:
This game features the new slick machine designs
from Williams with the curved metal sides.  The graphics
and sound are incredibly improved on all their newer games.
This machine features 3 bonus games.  The best one is
probably the Fire Dance bonus where you awarded 10 free spins.
If a spin is a winner, two hula dancers will award you a multiplier
and your win on that spin will be multiplied.  On the volcano bonus,
you are awarded scatter pay spins.  These spins, you are paid
according to how many of each symbol comes out on the spin
without actually lining the symbols up.

The Bad:
The third bonus game is just too hard to explain as
I will confuse myself by trying to explain it.
This machine can be found in 20 line, 20 coins per line
versions which could be an incredible 400 penny bet.
We played this machine quite a bit, yet were only able
to get a bonus game only once.  And, no, we didn't bet
400 coins per spin...

kahuna5pine200.jpg (23716 bytes)

Best Win:
150 coins on the by lining up 5 pineapples
as seen in the picture above...

Locations:
This machine is coming out everywhere.  Look for the
Hollywood Squares, Match Game banks of machines.

Cocktail Party?
I forget the name of this Aristocrat slot machine, but
I do remember the neat graphics.  I especially enjoyed
getting paid (above) for 5 of the green gentlemen in a row...
Yes, believe it or not, that is line #20 on this machine.

hootloot200.jpg (23136 bytes)
Hoot Loot (part one)
It's tough to tell what we won above, but it turns out the
batty looking symbols in reels two and five are actually.
the "Hoot Loot" symbols changing to say "Wild".
It turns out that we won 515 credits mainly because
the wild symbols helped line up 5 porcupines.
What is that Hoot Line x22 at the bottom?
I'll explain it later...

deeppocketsbonus200.jpg (20067 bytes)
Deep Pockets
One of the first machines to have 25 lines.  Pretty outrageous
at the time it came out as most machines were still doing 9 lines.
Here was the problem... in order to play one of the bonus games,
it required you to cover all 25 lines.  I don't know about you,
but I don't like being told what to do... (or how to gamble)

gameoflifebonus200.jpg (20574 bytes)
The Game of Life (version II)
Believe it or not, we walked up to this game and it was on the
bonus round.  Somebody had put in a nickel and thought they
had lost, but had in reality triggered the bonus game!
We played the bonus game and won an uninspiring 23 coins!
Then, we put in 5 bucks and promptly lost it faster than
you can say "sucker".  We should've just walked away...

trueromance200.jpg (18846 bytes)
True Romance
You could probably rename this game "True Unicorn" as
the "TR" symbol is wild for the entire reel just like the unicorn.
The symbols actually look very similar to the Enchanted Unicorn
machine.  Above, you can see that we actually lined up
five of the "romantic couples" without help from the wild symbols
or Fabio for that matter... 1110 coins ain't too shabby!

hootloot2200.jpg (22692 bytes)
Hoot Loot  (part two)
The Hoot Line x22 always suckers us into playing the game.
You will probably have to look at the enlarged picture,
but on the "Hoot Loot" symbols in reels 1 and 3, there is a
picture of a little owl in the bottom right hand corner.  Random
symbols on the reels have the owl and those symbols form the
"Hoot Line".  Should your symbols form a winning combination, you
get an incredible 22 times it's regular value.  In this example,
we lined up two wild symbols on the hoot line which paid
10 coins times 22, which equaled 220 coins.  Almost every spin
you get a mish-mash of symbols on the Hoot Line,
none of which pays anything...

Star Wars
At the Movies Video Slots
(04/27/05)

Jackpot:
Five Star Wars™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet
wins a progressive jackpot.

starwarsdeathstar200.jpg (18125 bytes)

The Good:
Let me just say that this is the "top of the line" machine
when it comes to video slots.  In terms of sound, graphics,
lights, and effort, you couldn't ask for anything more.
The game itself features two bonus games, one of which
involves the giant deathstar above the machine.  You first
pick one of three stormtroopers to blast, which each correspond
to the three bottom arrows on the deathstar.  If you pick the left
stormtrooper, you get the left arrow.  You then do it again for the
top three arrows.  The deathstar spins and you get whichever credit
total your arrows line up with.  The kicker in all this is if your top
arrow lands on the blank circle spot on the top of the deathstar.
You then get to play again.  If you are lucky enough to do it twice,
you then get to blow up the deathstar for even more credits.
The other bonus game isn't quite as entertaining as all you do is
pick either Darth Vader or Obi Wan Kenobi in a lightsaber duel.
When we picked the loser, we received around 120 credits, but
when we picked the winner, we received 1200 credits.
It does pay well, since we were only playing 1 credit per line.
The Star Wars wild symbol helps you line things up.

starwarslightsaber200.jpg (19340 bytes)

The Bad:
This machine will probably start the 30 line trend.
30 lines and you can play up to 10 coins per line, so
that's 3 bucks for a max bet... Ouch!

Best Win:
1200 coins on the Lightsaber Bonus Game
I think we got it right about three times.
(And got it wrong about 4 times...)

(03/30/05)

Jackpot:
Five Hot Flashes™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet.

hotflashesfreespins300.jpg (30906 bytes)
free spin bonus

The Good:
A couple of really entertaining bonus games.
During the free spin bonus, you get a randomly
picked multiplier every spin ranging from 2x to 12x.
The other bonus game features a board game, where you
touch to spin the dice and advance along the game board.
The game starts out with the man crawling out of the dog house!

hotflashesbonus300.jpg (32610 bytes)

Landing on different symbols rewards you differently.
I landed on the chores symbol and then was asked to
pick from a number of chores to help please your lady.

hotflasheschores300.jpg (28646 bytes)

I also landed on the jewelry space, where you go and
buy jewelry for your lady.  After you pick out three fakes,
it's back to the game board.

hotflashesjewelry300.jpg (29592 bytes)

The Bad:
Although it is a very fun machine to play, I'm not sure
if it considered PC?  Some people may be offended
by the concept behind the machine and how they
make light of a not so pleasant subject.
This machine may never make it to the casino floor...

Best Win:
I must've racked up 500 credits on the bonus game with
the game board.  Remember, I was playing for free, so
I didn't get to keep any of the 69,000+ credits in the machine!

Locations:
I'm not sure if we will ever see this machine

I have to say that I enjoy playing this game... I don't

There's nothing like a 4 digit payout!

alfredhitchcockbonus300.jpg (24758 bytes)
Alfred Hitchcock
This is one of those games where we had great luck playing
it the first time, but everytime since, it takes our money.
I blame the machine for the bad picture.  There are about
4 different bonus games in this machine, which keeps you
playing...  However, this machine has squaking bird noises
when you spin the reels...  it drives me crazy...

bennyfreespinsb.jpg (25457 bytes)
Benny's Big Game Hunt
I really couldn't find any big game in my bonus spin
hunt...  A few peanuts that increased my multiplier, but
that was about it...

seamonkeysbonusb.jpg (25845 bytes)
Sea Monkeys
Who didn't enjoy sea monkeys when they were little?
Well... besides me, who never had any... I enjoyed them during
our video slot machine session.  We were fortunate enough to
get the bonus game and we made the most of it!  We kept
getting more sea monkey food, which increased our free spins
and increased our multiplier.  I think we ended with an insane
amount of credits... like over 2000 during this bonus game.

This free spin bonus game went pretty well as we got
over 400 coins back.  (playing 1 per line)  Thank goodness

only made 30 coins... more like Stupid Cherry!

geisha400coinsb.jpg (30047 bytes)
Geisha Girl?
I'm not too fond of the Aristocrat video slots...
Something about the way they spin and their sound that
doesn't appeal to someone from the video game generation.
Even with 5 birds (as the Geisha Girls are wild) on the
bottom line and a nice 418 coin win, I still don't know
for sure what the name of the machine is...

Beverly Hillbillies
Four Jebs with a double wild equals $5.04!
Not bad for a 15 cent bet.

lifestyles250b.jpg (33269 bytes)
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
Look at this!  A rare win for us on this stingy game...
This machine keeps taking our money and we can't get the
darn bonus game!  And yet, we keep coming back...
Five Boats without using a wild symbol!  250 nickels!

priceisrightshowdown2b.jpg (28610 bytes)
The Price is Right - Dice Game
Lately, if we are fortunate enough to get this bonus game,
we either go under 50 or over 100 and never make it to the
Showcase Showdown!   We finally made it to the showdown
and made the most of it.  Found the showcase with the multiplier!
360 nickels will work!

Ghost Island
It came down to the final two ghosts and we picked the wrong one!
However, 1300 pennies on a 15 cent bet is an excellent return.
Although, had we picked the correct ghost, 2600 pennies would
have been our prize!

tabascoreelsbonusb.jpg (24078 bytes)
Tabasco - Reel Version
One of the funnest bonus games is the Tabasco Country Store.
We were lucky enough to get 1275 coins on the bonus game.
I believe we found the elusive 5x multiplier.
Hey, 1275 coins on a 2 cent game is over $25.00!

jeannie4wildsb.jpg (31049 bytes)
I Dream of Jeannie
This is the old-old school version of this game.
We were one Jeannie short of the jackpot and had to settle
for a rather disappointing 154 credits.  You would think lining up
5 of a symbol would've paid more...  How many of us have had
this same spin, but with a bonus game symbol in place of the
building symbol, which would've paid us nada?

lobstermaniareels300.jpg (25728 bytes)
Lobstermania
Shellfish Reel/Video Slots
(01/26/05)

Jackpot:
Five Lobstermania™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet.

lobstermaniavideo300.jpg (27637 bytes)

The Good:
On this version of Lobstermania, you get to actually
see the actual, physical reels spin.  You can either
watch the reels or watch the video screen on top of
the machine.  It's refreshing to see the actual reels spin.
The bonus game is the same as the regular Lobstermania
and you play it on the video screen on top of the game.

The Bad:
For this particular machine, I've only seen it available in
nickels.  There are some other machines, Little Green Men,
which is available in 2 cent denomination.   I've only seen
three of these in big machines in nickel form, which include
Lobstermania, Bucks Ahoy, and Tabasco.  There isn't a lot of
variety here as they are just testing them out right now.

Best Win:
400 coins on the Lobstermania bonus game with
9 coins bet.  (1 per line)  Now, that's not 400 pennies,
but 400 nickels, which is a nice 20 bones!

Locations:
I've seen these machines start to find their way into
the casinos... usually along a side wall.

American Bandstand Chart Bonus Game.
We were at #6 with one pick to go.  We ended up with
a "+1" on our next pick which rewarded us 250 credits.
I think this is the first time we got close enough to reach #1,
had we picked the best record.

Ghost Island
Ghostbusting Video Slots
(01/19/05)

Jackpot:
Five Wild Ghost Island™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet.

The Good:
This game features a bonus game, which I believe
features you picking from different ghosts to eliminate.
One of the ghosts will end your bonus.  I don't know if anything
happens if you leave that ghost for last...
Every so often, after you hit a button that starts the reels
spinning, the reels will take an extra long time spinning.
This signifies the ghost bonus, where a ghost appears
on the screen and awards you a multiplier for the next spin.
I've seen 3x, 5x, and 7x.  The reels then spin and you are
awarded your multiplier times whatever wins you have.
Could add up to some big bucks if you get a great spin.
If you don't get anything, you are still awarded with your
coins bet times the multiplier.

The Bad:
Playing this game waiting for the ghost bonus to come out
can sucker you in to depositing your entire bankroll.  Also,
even when you get it, you're not guaranteed a winning spin.

Best Win:
1650 coins on one spin with the 5 times multiplier
thanks to the ghost bonus with 20 coins bet.

Locations:
This machine is popping up everywhere with
the more generic IGT games.

 nerdsfreespin2000300.jpg (31215 bytes)
Ever play these weird Aristocrat(?) machines?
We gave this Nerd machine a try and scored a cool 2000
coins on this one free spin.  I think we cashed in over 20 bucks
which is pretty awesome playing penny slots.
This was at the Horseshoe in Downtown LV and they don't have
ticket payments, so it paid us in nickels...   and needless to say
we emptied that hopper and had to wait 20 minutes.
A penny slot that pays you in nickels... like I said, weird.

gilliganbonus300.jpg (28834 bytes)
Gilligan's Island
Classic 70's TV Video Slots
(01/05/05)

Jackpot:
Five Gilligan's Island™ symbols
on any(?) pay line with max coins bet.

The Good:
A fun bonus game features Gilligan riding the
professor's bike trying to obtain enough credits for you
to play more.  At first, you pick one of the five characters
(Ginger, Mary Ann, Skipper, the Howells, the Professor)
and they will give you a credit total you need to continue.
Then Gilligan starts riding the bike which spins coconuts
on top of the machine (kind of like a wheel) which is very
similar to the Laverne & Shirley bottle spinning game.  If your
coconut is worth more than the credit total you needed, you
get to pick another character and keep going.  Otherwise,
it is bonus over...  The Shipwreck Shorts bonus features
a small snipet from an episode and then you are awarded
credits... not a very exciting bonus game.

The Bad:
30 freakin' lines!  How can there be 30 lines on
this video slot machine?  At least, it is a penny machine,
but still, that's only 3 spins for a dollar.

Best Win:
We got the Gilligan bonus, but were eliminated
on the first spin as Mary Ann wanted 75 credits
and we only could give her 50...

gilliganshipwreckshorts300.jpg (37337 bytes)
Locations:
This machine is in some casinos, now!
I've seen a bank of these at the Aladin

Where can we play video slots for free/fun?
A question that I am asked alot...

The Good:
Some games are available for your computer to play
at home.  I don't know of any that you can play over the
internet for free.  The problem is that there isn't a wide
variety of games available for your PC.

The Bad:
As for actually purchasing an actual machine, you can almost
forget about it.  Only residents in certain non-gambling states may
actually purchase a machine without an actual gaming license.
Try looking up video poker machines on eBay and read
their terms of purchase...
