D-Vision's (Video) Slots

Jackpot:
5 Diamond Cinema® symbols.
The wild symbols are not wild for this symbol.

The Good:
The bonus game on this machine is where you pick magazines
which will reveal credits or gift boxes.  Should you be lucky
enough to find any gift boxes, you then get to pick from
jewelry boxes which will reward you big credits.  Not as
exciting as some of the bonus games out there nowadays,
but a good game.  The biggest draw to this game are
the wild Marilyn Monroe symbols on reels 2 and 4.  They
make that entire reel wild, but they aren't wild for the Bonus
Game symbol or the Diamond Cinema symbol.
Line up the right things with the wild symbols and you
can win some serious credits.



The Bad:
I don't have anything bad to say about the machine except
the usual, it doesn't pay as good as it used to...
This was the first Diamond Cinema game to come out and
it is probably still the best.  Bogey, Sinatra, and McQueen
were all bombs in my eyes.  They all featured good graphics
and excellent sound, but the machines were not that fun
to play...  maybe I needed to win more on those machines?



Best Win:
It's still the 1500+ credits we got for lining
up the pink Marilyns every which way using both
wild symbols playing just 1 coin per line

Monopoly:  Shake, Rattle, & Roll

Most Monopoly games automatically get a 4 eggplant
score, but Williams has come out with a few sub-par,
Monopoly games that are trying to capitalize on their
winning franchise.  We, die hard, video slot players can
almost immediately spot the difference in graphics, bonus
game quality, and general feel of the game.  Don't try to fool
us thinking we'll play anything with a Monopoly logo...


Shocking Headlines

I finally got a chance to play this game for real and
it was fun.  It has a few bonus games that we got to
play, but it's hard to give it more than 3 nasubi as
this game doesn't do anything that excites anyone.
It's just another of those IGT generic video slots that
they change the symbols and slap on a new title...


The Price is Right:  Punch a Bunch

The main bonus game may be the same and nothing new,
but it is still fun.  The Punch a Bunch game isn't anything
that spectacular, in fact, it is rather a so-so bonus game. 
However, those great graphics, sound, and video quality
add up to another winner... Come on Down!


Monopoly: Reel Riches

Another example of a Monopoly game gone wrong.  One
look at the graphics on the screen and you already
know they half-assed the game.  If they had put as
much effort into the game as they did onto the game
sign (as pictured above), they wouldv'e had a good game.


Bobble Time

Nothing truly inventive game wise, but a really neat
concept to use their characters in a game.  I would like
to see more games like this where you get to see/pick your
favorite video slot characters in bonus games.

(I still do my best not to pick Uncle S(c)am as I never win
on his video slot.  I'll usually go with the Catch a Wave dude
or the Chinese chef!)

Not exactly the most entertaining of bonus games
as I would like a more interactive experience, but if it pays
I'll be a fan.  Not that I've ever had great results from the
Jeopardy video slots, but I liked the graphics...


Jeannie Your Wish

One of the first video slots that I played was the
I Dream of Jeannie.  It was a lot of fun and the bonus
games were so new and inventive.  Now, the wheel
isn't such a great attraction when it comes to the bonus
games, unless you're talking about the Price is Right.
For some reason, I can't get enough of that bonus game,
but I digress... My wish is for more innovative bonus games.


The Terminator:  Cyber Spins

Anybody have any luck on the original Terminator?
Don't look at me... With no luck on the original, I'm not
counting on this machine to up my bankroll.  This is another
of those machines that has only one bonus game, 30?
free spins.  I could think of a lot worse bonus games...


Hollywood Squares: Center Stage

Williams has really put together a great franchise in the
Hollywood Squares series.  They've incorporated great
bonus games, improved graphics, and celebrities...

Addams Family:  Pick to Win

Maybe the first video slot to come up with the Pick to Win
bonus game concept.  Still a favorite, however it is getting
harder and harder to find, not to mention, harder and harder to
win at.  A more updated version of this game would go over well.

(Pick to lose:   Have you ever gone through this bonus game
picking all the "collect" headstones?  I've done that
a couple of frustrating times!)

A random Mr. Cashman will come out occasionally
and award you a random bonus, like free spins or a
multiplier.  An okay concept...  Again, I'm not a fan of
bonus games triggering without you seeing something
line up on the screen.  The Atronic? graphics are improving.


Bowser's Rock N' Roll Party

Not sure how many people actually saw this game come
out or if there are any of these still on a casino floor.  I guess
Bowser isn't quite the A-list star he used to be in the
Sha-na-na era...  Don't ask me how I know that.


South Park

Something like 5 or 6 bonus games, actual voices from the
show, great graphics, Cartman, I mean, what more can you
ask for?  It's a machine that I will always play even if it keeps
taking my money...  The one problem... only Indian casinos
would take this game since it appeals to the kids.

This game features great... Hey, who put up the picture
of food in the video slot section?  That doesn't belong here!
Although it does make me hungry as I haven't had a buffet

Megabucks Video Slots

Who doesn't love a game that has 100 lines.  Okay, I'm
exaggerating a bit, it only has a mere 60 lines.  Put in max
coins for a nice 300 penny spin, which is equal to a dollar machine
size bet.  (with a 70% penny machine payback)  It's no wonder
the casinos are putting the video slot machines everywhere on
the casino floor.  Back to this game, the bonus game is a lot
of fun and even more fun if you start out like we did above
by finding the two multipliers first.

(Dollar machines typically have 90+% payback.)

Flip Flop Deluxe

I'm not a big fan of the flip flop games as the bonus
game has as much appeal as watching an actual
frog leap onto a lilypad.  This reel version is a nice
change of pace as you don't have to stare at a video
screen for hours.


Hoot Loot

Gimmicky games like this one that has the "hoot line"
don't really excite me either.  Especially since you can
never line anything up on that hoot line.  Although, I always
get suckered into games like that darn bingo video slot.


Men in Black

State of the art graphics and sound make this game a winner!
A couple of fun bonus games are included along with wild
symbols that are wild for the entire reel.  They are only one
Will Smith away from a perfect score...


Password Plus

Excellent audio and okay graphics make this game fun
to play.  The two bonus games are fun also.  However,
there is something missing in this game and I don't know
what it is...  (winning money?)


Super Jackpot Party

Simply a great game!  The bonus game is simple and fun!
Now with bonus games within the classic present picking
bonus game as well as a chance to return to the bonus game
after picking a party pooper.  The graphics and sound are terrific
and a great time killer as you can put in only one coin and
still have the same chance at playing the bonus game.
Wild symbols and the surprise party feature don't hurt either!

(I can hear the machine clearly in my head shout out, "Jackpot Party!")

State-of-the-art graphics and sound doesn't save this
game from a terrible bonus game.  Nothing like confusing
the customer with a non-chance bonus game.


Dick Clark's Censored Bloopers

Maybe the low score is because it took me a couple of years
before I actually got to play the bonus game... Or maybe it's

Bitz of Pizzas
Nowadays all the new reel slot machines have their
gimmicks/bonus games.  You must remember that
the payback on these machines is less than a regular
slot machine as the machine isn't getting the coins that
you would normally be playing while you are playing the
bonus game.  Not sure how the Bitz of pizza bonus went,
but as with any pizza they try to dress it up with toppings
but we all know it's the sauce and crust that make the pizza.


Jeopardy Reels
Some of the newer video slot machines actually have real
reels that maybe make the old school slot player give them
a try.  I don't mind playing these as they seem to be a good
change of pace.  Sometimes it's better than staring at a
tv monitor.  The bonus games are played on a screen above
the reels which can give you a neck ache if you aren't careful.


The Price is Right
Even Roddy has gotten into the reels.  Somehow,
you have to think it is easier to line up just one symbol
on the last reel to trigger a bonus game then lining up
three symbols in a row on a normal video slot machine.
Ever play the wheel of fortune reel machine...
if so, then you know it isn't that easy...


Double Triple Diamond Deluxe Cheese
You think trying to figure out the bonus game on a video
slot machine is tough... wait until you see some of the slots
like this Triple Double or Double Triple Diamond machines.
They have numbers, arrows, dice, and counters all over the place!

Frenzy Spins Bonus
I believe the name of this game is Shark Frenzy.
Triggering the frenzy bonus is a lot of fun as you get
to keep getting spinning the reels and collecting credits
as long as one wild Shark Frenzy spin appears anywhere
on one of the five reels...  In the top left corner, you can
see the record number of spins that somebody got
as you can hopefully try to beat it...


Beverly Hillbillies Kangaroo Scam
There is nothing like triggering a bonus game, unless it's
the Kangaroo Bonus on this machine.  It was fun the first coupla
times I played it, but now it seems rather boring and a waste of
time.  They should let you touch the screen to choose which
item you want to shoot at, rather than making you wait until
the Kangaroo appears on it.  When you do eventually make it
to the final screen, the big payoff is a mere 5 times what
you bet?  Not exactly megapennies...


Moolah Bonus
Do you get theses crazy, new video slots?
Me neither... I just mindlessly press the spin
button and are welcomely (is that a word?) surprised
should I get anything.  I still don't understand how the
all the lines work...


Price is Right
On the Showcase Showdown Bonus, have you ever
tallied exactly 100 on your first two spins?  I almost always
go over 100, but have gotten 100 two times in my PIR video
slot career.  On the bonus spin, you get 1000 coins if you land
on the 100, or 250 coins if you land on the green 5 or 15 spots.
The lady pictured above, Bea?, really has been stiffing me lately...
She keeps disappointing me by always going under 55.

Wheel of Fortune - Fortune Spins
This is one of the original video slot games that got
me into playing these type of machines.  It was so much
fun spinning the wheel and even more fun to play the Fortune
Spin Bonus Game.  Nowadays, these machines are still
around, but are now in very, very stingy penny forms...


Adjacent Reels (Nonsense?)
Found some newer video slots that feature five
strange reels that sort of tile together.  After playing it for
a while you discover that you just need to bunch symbols
together, as the more you bunch, the bigger the win.  The above
pic shows five hawk heads (the blue diamond is wild) and
four J's as winning bunches.  This game got old in a hurry
and I went running back to the normal video slot machines.


Slot Dogs
Remember those fox and the hound symbols from
the video slot machine.  Well, we started playing a regular
three reel slot machine with those same symbols.
We did pretty good on it as the symbols kept coming
up as shown in the picture above.  However, when the
machine went cold, it wasn't as fun... coincidence?


Monopoly Safe Bonus
You sit down and play a new game... everything is new
and exciting... then, you trigger the bonus game.
Pick a safe...  okay, which one to pick...  20 different safes
to choose from...  you then pick a safe and it reveals
"go directly to jail"  bonus game over!
You must then play the machine until you get the bonus game
again and redeem yourself... time and cost does not matter!


Hot Hot Penny
Another new gimmick to get you to put more money
in the machine.  This scam goes something like this...
if you put in extra credits (1 or 5, I forget), you will get
more free spins, more often...
It was available on a number of new machines on a
carousel, not just the King of Africa game shown above.
I don't recall Penny ever coming to our aid...

Game Show Video Slot Review

Jackpot:
5 Wild, You Bet Your Life® symbols.

The Good:
I like the new aero-dynamic design to all the new
Williams game machines.  The graphics on these
games seem to run a lot smoother and the sound
quality is excellent.  In the Groucho Bonus game,
you start off with 3 picks from a 16 square grid.  You can
win credits, extra picks, credits with extra picks, or a duck.
Your bonus ends when you are out of picks.  The goal is
to find a duck, which will take you to a different board,
where you can win more picks or big amounts of credits.
The other bonus game is the duck bonus, where you roll
credits.  After you win credits, that space is turned into
a duck and landing on it again will end the bonus game.
There's also a secret duck bonus that if used in a winning
combo on the reels, will award credits or a bonus game.



The Bad:
It took us forever to see a bonus game.  These machines
seem to be really hit or miss.  Sometimes you just can't get
the bonus game, sometimes the bonus game keeps
coming out.  Another drawback, for you max coin players.
is that it will be available in 20 line, 400 coin versions.



Best Win:
I believe we got about 750 credits on
the Groucho Bonus betting 1 coin per line

Harley Davidson™
Video Slot Re-Review

If you line them up on the first line with
max credits, you also win a
Harley-Davidson® Fat Boy® motorcycle

The Good:
I love the bonus game on this machine.  Spinning the
wheel trying to accumulate enough miles to make it to
the next race is a lot of fun.  And, if you finish the three
races, you get to pick a Harley shirt, which will reward
you big credits or an even better multiplier.
The game itself has great graphics, no AKQJ10 symbols
here.  Another great thing about the symbols is that
they are easily differentiated from one another, so it is
easy to follow the reel by reel progression as you try to line
things up.  On some machines, you try to figure out if you
lined something up after all the reels have finished spinning.
The sound is also excellent as the lady's voice is soft and
soothing if you line things up or during the bonus game.
She's no Gilbert Godfrey yelling at you...



The Bad:
I still play the penny version of this game alot to kill
time as it still entertains me...  However, the bonus
game doesn't come out as often as it used to.  Since it is
now a penny game, the payback % isn't very good at all.

The Good:
This machine does have great graphics and sound.
I think I've played the bonus game once in my life and
it was fun.  However, that was so long ago that I can
hardly remember how to play it.  I know you try to move
the football down the field trying to score a touchdown...



The Bad:
Considering I can never win anything at this game,
I'd say almost everything about this game is bad.
I can't get the bonus game...  I can't line anything up...
I can't get the two cheerleaders to line up... I just can't
seem to do anything right when it comes to this game...
Do you have a game like this???
And yet, I still put money in it, hoping that I am
incredibly overdue and then run away with my
tail between my legs.

Farming Video Slot Review

Jackpot:
Five jackpot symbols on the max line
with max coins bet

The Good:
Excellent artwork and animation, which is expected
with any IGT machine.  The golden carrot bonus game
lets you keep picking carrots, while revealing credits
and increasing your carrot-o-meter, which increases
your mulitplier.  You can't go wrong with a classic 
pick 'em bonus game.



The Bad:
Other than the bonus game, there isn't too
much to get excited about.  This is just one of those
generic video slot machine that you will see banked
together with the other non-licensed video slots.
I'm just not too crazy about machines that use
innovative symbols like "J" or "K" or "Q".  How about
a rabbit or a trowel or a plant stick?

The Good:
6 different bonus games can be played on one machine.
By adding on an additional bonus bet, you get a chance
to play a bonus game on every spin.  You no longer need
to line up bonus symbols on your reels.  The variety of
bonus games is pretty good and will keep you playing
just so you can play your favorite one, "just one more time".
The bonus king machine doesn't feature bonus king symbols
as it will be available on a carousel of many machines with
the bonus bet option.  Some bonus games are similar to the 
old standbyes, but one in particular, the king spins bonus,
is new and refreshing.  You play a 4 x 4 reel slot machine
that pays 256 ways.



The Bad:
Adding on an extra bet seems a bit irritating to me.
Another thing that is getting more prevelant is the
random bonus game.  As of now, I am not a big fan
of the bonus game popping up randomly as opposed  
to actually seeing the bonus symbols line up.  I guess
it's just more rewarding to get to the bonus games the
old fashioned way.  If you like a particular bonus game,
should you get the bonus king feature, you get no say
into which bonus game you play, so you have a 1 in 6.
shot at playing your favorite one.

American Bandstand™
Video Slot Re-Review

Jackpot:
Five Wild Dick Clark symbols
with max coins bet



The Good:
I think the first thing I noticed about this game was
the great sound and music.  Not to be outdone are the
great graphics and animation.   It features two good
bonus games that are a lot of fun to play.  The Rate a Record
Record bonus uses the wheel above the machine with the
added bonus of getting to pick a button on the jukebox
if the wheel lands on any of the record symbols.
The other Top Ten bonus game has you trying to lead
a record up the charts using five rounds of you picking
a record which reveals how many spaces up (or down)
the chart your record goes.  Another great part of the
AB game is that the Dick Clark symbol is wild and really
helps line things up, especially when playing 20 lines.
This game is now available in penny flavors to take
the sting out of playing 20 nickels a spin.



The Bad:
Well, for one thing, the wild Dick Clark symbol always
appears on the last two reels, where he is of no use. The
two bonus game symbols always seem to get in each
other's way and like to block other symbols from lining up.
Playing 20 (or 25?) lines can really put a crimp into your
bankroll, especially when symbols refuse to line up.
One bad thing coming in the future is that Ryan Seacrest's
face will probably be showing up instead of Dick Clarks.



Best Win:
I want to say we got 800 coins as we got
our record to #2 on the charts.

The Good:
The Espresso Free Spin bonus is a lot of fun to play.
You first pick your coffee to determine how many free
spins you get and then it's off to the reels for the free spins.
Every spin increases the multiplier.  You get three times the win
on the third free spin, 10 times the win on the tenth free spin, etc.
So, as your spins get larger, it gets more exciting!
This game features great sound and graphics featuring
everyone's favorite sitcom alien.



The Bad:
30 lines... my bankroll, nor my brain can handle
30 lines a spin.  It's hard enough figuring out where
the 20 lines are and then even harder when the IGT
and WMS machines don't have the same 20 lines. 
While this game has great graphics and audio, it gets
old as you whittle away 30 coins (or more) at a time
waiting to get the Espresso Bonus game.

Video Slot Re-Review

Jackpot:
Five Austin Powers Wild symbols on the 9th line
with max coins bet



The Good:
Why do I like this game?  Maybe it's because I liked
the movies... or maybe it's because I used to win all the time...
or maybe it's because this is just a solid machine.
Four different bonus games:  Dr. Evil, Match Win, Pick-
an-Austin, and Fembot.  (Who doesn't like their bonus shot
out of fem-bot breasts?)  Great graphics and sound!
Line up three characters or three of any phrase and get
a dose of the actual actor's voices.  Here great lines from the
AP movies with Mike Myers, Heather Graham, Elizabeth Hurley,
Robert Wagner, Seth Green, and more Mike Myers.
9 play lines make for a long stay at this machine
as opposed to the now-norm 20 line machines.



The Bad:
Believe it or not, there are some flaws to this machine.
Unless you're playing max coin, you really aren't going
to rack up huge bonus'(s?  bonusii?) during the bonus games.
In fact, you are more apt to get a really bad bonus than
if you're playing a newer video slot machine.  I've put up
a bonus in single digits on more than one occasion.
These machines are harder to find since they are old.
The last time I was in Vegas, Sept 2005, I found them
at the Plaza and the Palms in penny to dime versions.
There's nothing like hearing the "Mini-me" sound bite
20 times a session, but at least that means you're winning.

The Good:
A fun fishing bonus game that is similar to
the Harley Davidson spin bonus.  You need to achieve
a certain amount of credits to make it to the next round.
In this case, you need to pick fishing spots and then pick
three targets to cast your bait.  If youf total after the three
picks is greater than what you need, you get to advance
to a new spot.  If your total is less than what you need,
your bonus round is over.  The other bonus game is the gill
seeker bonus where you get to watch a fish radar that
will show you a bunch of fish and you get the credit for
whichever one you catch.  So, you get to watch a few big
fish swim by and then you get to reel in a little minnow.



The Bad:
This is one of those generic video slots that seem to be
an all or nothing game.  If you don't get the bonus game,
this game really isn't that fun.  (as is the case for most games)
There are no big bells or whistles on this game.



Best Win:
Looks like we got about 617 credits
on the gill seeker bonus...  not bad at all!
