D-Vision's Video Poker
If you've been to a casino lately, you've noticed all sorts of different games... new slot machines, new table games, and new video poker games. You can't just sit down at any video poker machine and expect to play the same way, or for the machine to pay you the same for every four of a kind. It's getting more and more confusing and more and more fun...
Old poker machines are my game of choice, but
I only get 125 coins for a four-of-a-kind while other
people get 7500 coins for four aces...

Super Times Pay Poker
Timely Video Poker
(09/26/07)

Jackpot:
Royal Flush dealt to you
with max coins bet.

The Good:
This game is played as either a triple play, five play, or ten play
machine.  Your initial hand is dealt to you and occasionally
you will get a multiplier that will cycle between 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x,
8x, and 10x pay.  It is very exciting getting a multiplier as it will
change back an forth for a few seconds before stopping on your
multiplier for the hand.  Especially exciting when the 8x or 10x
multiplier comes up!  Then you play your regular triple play hand
receiving the multiple times anything you win on all 3 hands.
Hey, 10x a pair of Jacks pays 50 coins per hand!
Just imagine hitting a multiplier and then getting four aces with
a kicker or having a four of a kind dealt to you!

The Bad:
The multiplier is very streaky and sometimes it doesn't come
out for long stretches of time.  However, the worst part, is that
you have to pay an extra coin per hand played.  That is, for
triple play for example, instead of the normal 15 coins (5 per hand)
you have to put in 18 coins (6 per hand).  A losing streak will
attack your credits at a much faster rate than usual...

Best Win:
4 Aces with a kicker with no multiplier.
4 Queens dealt with no multiplier
We just can't seem to put the multiplier to good use...

Locations:
This machine is available in many casinos,
sometimes in the new All Star Poker multi-poker machines
In Downtown, only at the Fremont and Main Street.

Almost a Royal
Oh so close Video Poker
(03/01/06)

Jackpot:
Popping in that last card to the royal for
4000 coins or more (progressive) with max coins bet

almostroyal2b.jpg (17520 bytes)

The Good:
There's nothing like the anticipation when you hold 4
cards to a royal flush.  The possiblities are there for
the jackpot as well as a flush or a straight or even a high
pair.  I think in my video poker career I only popped in the
final card once, when holding four to the royal.
(pictured below)

droyalb.jpg (20376 bytes)

When I've been fortunate enough to get a royal,
it's usually more of a surprise where I hold 2 or 3 cards
to the royal or if it is dealt.  Lots of times, I will be dealt
three to the royal, then when I draw, the next card will
be the fourth card to the royal, which makes me kick my
leg up, thinking that will help bring the royal.  The fifth card is
almost always a blank and then I have my neighbors looking
at me funny because I just kicked the machine. They usually
glare at me, then my screen, then say or give me a
sympathetic look.

almostroyal2b.jpg (19190 bytes)

The Bad:
If you actually do the math, you'll see that your odds
of actually getting that last card is 1 in 47 or about 2.1%.
Assuming you don't have an open ended straight flush draw
and that you aren't dealt a flush, straight, or high pair...
The odds of getting a straight are 6 3/8% and a flush are
19.1% and a high pair (assuming you hold a 10) are
19.1%.  So your total odds of getting something back
is roughly 46% of the time.  Not bad, considering
you have a shot at the jackpot.

almostroyal3b.jpg (16697 bytes)

Straight Flushes?
Almost as exciting, but the payoff, should it hit,
is quite lower.  (see below)  250 coins.

straightflushspadeb.jpg (20420 bytes)

   almostroyal4b.jpg (20768 bytes)
Clubs?
As weird as it may sound, most of my royals, have been spades.
As well as those people that I know.  Just a weird coincidence,
I guess...  or are there no such things as coincidences?

opponentpokerb.jpg (22513 bytes)
Opponent Poker
Gimmicky Video Poker
(11/09/05)

Jackpot:
Royal Flush and beat your opponent
for a few extra credits with max coins bet.

The Good:
Great graphics as you play regular draw poker.
The bonus comes in if your hand beats your two opponents hand.
Your two opponents are dealt the same hand you are and they
draw like you do.  Everybody is drawing from a separate deck,
so when you draw, you get different cards from which the other
players draw.  If you get on a hot machine, you can really
start piling up credits along with the few bonus credits.

opponentpoker2b.jpg (19823 bytes)

The Bad:
Having to beat both opponents.  The computer players hold
the most logical cards all the time.  Some games are a push
and the money carries over to the next hand.  Which, in turn,
makes you play the next hand, and sometimes the one after that,
until someone wins the side pot, which two thirds of the time
isn't you.  Thus keeping you on a cold machine (with probably
a bad pay table) a little longer.

Best Win:
In the picture below, you can see we raked in our money
back of 10 coins and the big side pot of 15 coins... <yawn>

opponentpoker3b.jpg (21569 bytes)

Locations:
This machine is not available in casinos yet,
but I'm sure these opponents are coming soon...

Double Bonus Poker Progressive
There's nothing like the feeling of pulling off a straight flush
on video poker.  Imagine my surprise when it paid a whopping
$197.18 or 789 coins!  The normal payout for a straight
flush is $62.50 (250 coins), which is what the progressive
reset to after it paid off mine.  By the way, you got a free shirt
at the Vegas Club for any $200 jackpot or greater.
Needless to say, I missed it by... that much...

treasurechestb.jpg (16277 bytes)
Treasure Chest
Nothing like a gimmick to make you part with your money.
Here, I was fortunate enough to get a 4 of a kind and get
a shot at untold riches... er $1199.00.  Well, my pick was
for the minimum of 140 quarters.  Oh well...
I used to be able to get this all of the time at the Main Street,
but lately (the last two years) nada.  I've had to take my money
to the Fremont to get a look at the Treasure Chests.

deucestflushdealtb.jpg (20841 bytes)
Deuces Wild Predicament
What to do, what to do?  This is on a Double Deuces Wild
video poker machine that pays 55 for a straight flush and
2000 coins for four deuces.  I pondered over this one for a while
as I took this picture...  I ended up dumping the 7 and 10
and ended up drawing two threes for a five of a kind, which
paid 75, or was it 80, coins.

five3sb.jpg (19910 bytes)
I ended up dumping the 7 and 10 and drew two threes
for a five of a kind, which paid 80 coins.

four7s250.jpg (18722 bytes)
Double/Double Double/Triple Double Bonus
Getting a four of a kind is such a big relief and a celebration
especially if you get it on one of the bonus poker machines.
Getting paid 250 (or more ) coins, sure beats 125 coins.
However, I'm not sure if the price of only getting 5 coins back
for a two pair is worth it...  It seems so hard to build credits
and sit on a machine for an extended period of time without
the usual 10 coin payback for a two pair.  However, everywhere
you turn, all I see are double-double bonus machines.  I guess
I'll have to adjust as the future of video poker is headed in
that direction.

four9sb.jpg (20292 bytes)
Old Poker
These older machines are hard to find as they have all been
replaced by Double Double Bonus poker machines.  The ones that
hold credits are even harder to find... Did you know that these
machines turn over/cap out at 300 credits.  In the picture above,
I had 285 credits in the machine when I got this four of a kind,
so the machine paid out the 125 coins instead of adding credits.
I believe some of the newer machines cap out at 1000 credits.

Ace Invaders Bonus Poker
aka Drop Down Aces Poker
(04/06/05)

Jackpot:
Roayl Flush
with max coins bet.
aceinvaders300.jpg (27519 bytes)
The Good:
Aces fall from the top two stud hands if they will improve
any of the hands beneath them.  (Follow the pictures)
Your chances to get four aces improve dramatically.
Not to mention the fact that you can get 5 aces, which
pays 2500 coins.  Four aces pays 250 coins on the
bottom line which comes up every 88 hands on average.
Five aces comes out once every 1700 hands.
(Bob Dancer provided the odds)
aceinvaders2300.jpg (31408 bytes)
The Bad:
It is a little confusing and intimidating to play.
Seems a bit too gimicky to actually be a good machine
to win money on.  Don't forget that you have to play
15 coins per hand and that the top two hands are
stud hands that you don't get to draw cards.
aceinvaders3300.jpg (30664 bytes)
Best Win:
(pictured above)
I don't exactly remember how much I won (in play credits)
on the hand above.  It was probably around 270 credits.
250 credits for the bottom hand and 10-15 credits on the
two hands above.

Locations:
I don't think these machines are out yet.
They should be out by the end of the year.

I hate wasting true four of a kinds on deuces machines.

3wayaction2240.jpg (21514 bytes)
3 Way Action Poker
aka "Sounds too complicated to me" Poker
(07/07/04)

Jackpot:
Four Aces with 3 kickers... I'm not kidding...
with max coins bet.

The Good:
This game combines 3 versions in poker, 5 card stud,
draw poker, and 7 card stud.  You are dealt 5 cards and
are paid on anything beating a pair of 4's?.  (I don't
remember the exact pay table.)  Then you get to draw for a
better hand and then get paid according to a double bonus
(or some variant of that) paytable.  Then two final cards
are given to you and a rather complicated paytable arises
from which you are paid (hopefully) for a third time.
It's fun and you can play at the non-bankrupting cost
of 15 cents a hand.  If anything it is a fun, inexpensive
time killer (for when you are saltier than the Pacific Ocean!).

The Bad:
I'm not sure you can actually make money from playing
this machine, although I did in the one time I played it.
(Well, I accidently played max coins on a hand and
got a pair, three of a kind on the draw and a full house
for the 7 card hand... whew!)
What are the odds of getting a 7 card straight flush anyways?

Best Win:
(pictured above)
I played the minimum of 3 nickels, 1 nickel per hand,
and was dealt three deuces, which paid 5 to 1 (5 coins).
I then drew the fourth deuce which paid 80 to 1 (80 coins).
The last two cards that completed my 7 card hand didn't
help me out any, so that paid 40 to 1? (I don't remember
the exact payout for that.) for a 4 of a kind.  In total I won
about $6.25 for a $0.15 bet.

Locations:
Not easy to locate.  I found it in a multi-game poker machine
which was available in nickel, dime, quarter, 50 cent,
and one dollar flavors.

I should've been playing a Double Double Bonus Machine.

tripleplay.jpg (10420 bytes)
Triple Play Video Poker
aka Triple Decker

Jackpot:
Royal Flush pays 4000 coins or progressive
with max coins bet.

The Good:
Getting dealt an awesome hand on board like a straight, flush,
full house, or four of a kind results in you getting 3 times the
payout.  Receiving lesser hands in the draw, like a pair, two pair
or three of a kind, gives you three different draws at
improving your hand.  I'm sure you've heard stories, as have I,
of people being dealt the royal and receiving 3x the jackpot.
These games usually feature many different choices
of poker games, otherwise known as multi-game flexibility.

The Bad:
Most of the time you are paying 3 times your bet for
hands that pay squat.  Don't forget to hold all your cards
if you are dealt a good hand before you hit the draw button.
I've heard of someone, who will remain anonymous, who
was dealt the royal, but in her excitement hit the draw button
without holding any cards and poof... there it went...
That'll make you sick!
The multi game flexibility usually results in less than
favorable pay tables.

Best Win:
Nothing too spectacular.
I've turned three of a kinds and pairs into four of a kinds.

Locations:
Available almost everywhere nowadays...
Of course now they come in 5 play, 10 play, 25 play,
50 play, and even 100 play flavors.

Coming Soon - Video Poker
What more can be done with video poker?
Well, they've thought of some more ways into
getting us to drop in some more quarters...

Multi Strike Video Poker:

Insert twenty coins and try to make it to the top.
If you receive a winning hand, you get to go play the second hand,
which pays 2x any winning hand.  Win the second hand and it's
on to the third hand, which pays 4x.  The final/fourth hand,
pays 8x.  However, get a losing hand anywhere, and it's game over.

Five Aces Poker:
The standard 52 card deck is used with another ace (of stars,
if I remember correctly).  More chances at getting four aces,
with the jackpot being 5 aces, not the royal.

Super Times Pay Poker:
Play 6 credits instead of 5 and you will receive a multiplier
that offers a 2x to 10x pay reward.  Supposedly, the base
pay schedule is not adjusted, so this sounds like fun.

Reel em In Poker:
Everyone knows the video slot Reel em In and now we
have a video poker spin-off.  If you receive a "Go Fish" card,
you will be offered 7 different cards in it's place to improve
your hand...

Bonus Hand Triple Play:
Certain hand combinations give players one free bonus hand
for every hand played.  Bonus hands can lead to more bonus
hands maxing out at 100 free hands possible.
I believe max coins must be played...

Other noteables:
Double Down Stud:  Return of this game.
Hold 'em Challenge:  Texas Hold 'em returns.
Three of a Kind Bonus:  Get dealt a 3 of a kind and get two draws.
Parlay Poker:  Get the opportunity to bet on a side hand.

  bonus8b.jpg (21231 bytes)

I didn't see any bonus for this 4 of a kind.

hundredplay.jpg (25794 bytes)
Hundred Play Video Poker
a.k.a. One Hundred Hands of Poker at a time

Jackpot:
400,000 coins for a Royal Flush on board
with max coins played. (4,000 x 100 hands)

The Good:
If you get a great hand dealed to you on board,
you get the pay off 100 times. These machines are usually
multi-game machines, meaning you can play almost
any variety of poker. (deuces wild, bonus, double bonus, etc.)

The Bad:
Typically the odds/paytables on games like this are less than
favorable.  If you get a junk hand, you will get mostly junk on
about 60 of 100 hands.  Another downside to playing this game is
that you see how hard it is to get a good hand even after the draw.
For example, if you hold a pair of 7's, how many four of a kind's
would you think you would draw?  If you're lucky, you will get
ONE in the 100 hands.  You will wonder how you ever get a
four of a kind on any regular poker machine...
It can be quite eye-opening...

Best Win:
Nothing special in my brief encounter with this machine.
I actually played for quite a while, but didn't manage anything
too amazing.  I did get four 4's with a kicker on one hand of a draw.
Like I said, nothing special...

Locations:
These machines are starting to pop up around the casinos
available in penny denomination.  Remember, playing
max coins in pennies is $5.00 per hand.

Triple Double Bonus Poker
a.k.a. Bonus Video Poker is getting out of hand

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush.
4000 coins for 4 Aces with a kicker (2, 3, or 4).

The Good:
4 Aces with a kicker pays the jackpot!
That seems a lot easier than getting the royal!
4 2's, 3's, or 4's with a kicker pays 2000 coins.
Seems like you can really make some money by
getting the right 4 of a kinds!
Triple Double Poker: probability table

The Bad:
A two pair pays only 5 coins, but more importantly
three of a kind pays a measly 10 coins.  You better hit that
4 of a kind right away because you won't last long with those
small payouts.  Also, this machine has only a 99.6% payback
with the most favorable of paytables.

Best Win:
I walk by this guy at the Vegas Club and he is cashing out over
1000 coins, probably 1200.  Pretty good haul... I walk by a little
later and he has it up to 600 credits again.  He's rolling, right?
Wrong, he is hotter than the flaming sun!  He is playing only 2 coins
per hand! And just getting 4 of a kind, after 4 of a kind.  Some with
the kicker, some without.  So naturally, after he leaves, I try the
machine and my roll of quarters is swallowed faster than
you can say, "loser"!

Locations:
You can find these machines around certain casinos...
They're not the easiest to find.

Deuces Jokers Wild Poker
a.k.a. Wild Card Video Poker

Jackpot:
10,000 coins for 4 deuces with a joker, (all wild hand).
A Royal Flush without a Joker pays 4000 coins.

The Good:
A deck of cards with 5 wild cards!
Hitting the jackpot will result in $2,500 big ones!
Bonus Poker Deluxe: probability table

The Bad:
Strategy on this machine can get a little complicated.
You would think 5 wild cards would make things easier.
Four of a kind pays only 15 coins and 4 deuces pay 125 coins.
Nothing worse than getting an awesome hand that would pay
10 times more if you were playing another machine.

Best Win:
I haven't had any luck on these machines.  However,
I do know somebody who did get the 5 wild cards jackpot...
so it is possible...

Locations:
These machines can be a tough find around the casinos...

  joker4ofakind7b.jpg (18860 bytes)

JokerPoker.gif (1186 bytes)
Joker Poker
a.k.a. Where's the Joker Video Poker

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush.
Royal with a Joker pays 500 coins.

The Good:
A wild card!  No doubt that the joker can come
in handy.  However, getting the joker to come
out is another story.  Playing a machine with a
favorable pay table with perfect strategy
will reward you with 100%+ payback.
Bonus Poker Deluxe: probability table

The Bad:
A pair of Kings or better is required to get your money back,
rather than a pair of Jacks.  Also, some machines don't give
anything for any hand that is worse than a two pair.
Some machines pay 100 for a four-of-a-kind, while others
only pay 75, so be careful...

Best Win:
I used to be able to sit at these machines for an hour
and cash out a little profit... However, nowadays I can't
seem to put a couple of good hands together.
I always say, "I am going to keep playing until I see the joker!"
Don't do that... it puts you in a bigger hole...

Locations:
You can find these machines around the casinos...

There's nothing like the feeling of getting a four of a kind...

ACE$ Video Poker
a.k.a. Spell ACE$ Video Poker

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush.
Four Aces that spell ACE$ wins 4000 coins.

The Good:
For four aces, you could win the jackpot of 4000 coins.
For a two pair, you still get 10 coins,
which will prolong your gaming.

The Bad:
What are truly the odds of you actually spelling ACE$?
Basically, you have to get the Aces in the sequence of
Spade, Heart, Club, Diamond (I believe) with the fifth card either
before the Spade or after the Diamond Ace.  Nothing rewarded
for spelling ACE$ with a space (non ace) in between letters.
By the way, 400 coins for 4 Aces with the incorrect spelling.

Best Win:
A straight flush... don't ask me why I remember that,
I think it was spades 2 through 6.  At the Main Street...
again, don't ask me why I remember that.

Locations:
You can find these machines around,
look for purple face machines...

Bonus Poker Deluxe
a.k.a. $100 Four of a Kind Video Poker

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush.
Any Four-of-a-kind pays 400 coins.

The Good:
Any four-of-a-kind, Aces, Sevens, Twos with a kicker,
Twos without a kicker, Jacks, etc. all pay 400 coins.
That's $100 if you are playing quarters.  Normally you would
need a specific 4-of-a-kind to get that kind of cash.
Bonus Poker Deluxe: probability table

The Bad:
Two Pair once again pays 5 coins, after all, you don't
get the "Bonus" for nothing.  Some of these machines only
pay 35 coins for a full house and 25 for a flush.  You can find
machines that will pay 40 for a full house and 30 for a flush.
It is hard to get a $10 bill to last long with those kind of
payouts for the hands that normally keep you going...

Best Win:
I remember when I first started playing these machines...
It didn't seem that hard to get a 4-of-a-kind, in fact,
I used to get multiple 4's and have over 800 credits in the machine...
Ahhh, those were the days... nowadays, I'm lucky if I get a straight.

Locations:
You can find these machines around especially
in those multi-game poker machines.
but watch out for those pay tables...

a.k.a. Aces, no Faces Video Poker

Jackpot:
Four Aces dealt on board without a face card pays
a dreamy 7500 coins.  It actually puts the Royal to shame...
4000 coins for a Royal Flush.

The Good:
Being dealt any number of Aces without a face card in
your hand pays you bonus coins:  1 ace w/no faces = 5 coins
2 aces w/no faces = 10 coins, 3 aces w/no faces = 250 coins
4 aces w/no faces = 7500 coins.  Plus you get to play the hand
after being paid the bonus coins
Pya the Aces video poker: probability table

The Bad:
Yes, Two Pair pays 5 coins and we're all getting used to that
with all the bonus poker games out there.  However, will
you be able to keep your sanity when you only get paid
10 coins for a Three-of-a-Kind?  Seems like a steep trade-off
especially when you realize it isn't that easy to get Aces
dealt to you with no Faces...
(Ace, Ace, Ace, Six, ... King...  D'oh!
"You stupid king!")

Best Win:
Unfortunately, I cannot claim to have any more than
one Ace dealt to me without a face, but I do know of
two people who have hit the big one on these machines
and have had to sign their 1099 tax form.

Locations:
Seems to be popping up around the video poker heavy casinos.
Just try to make all your Three-of-a-kinds of the Ace variety...

Double Double Bonus Video Poker
Not to be confused with just plain Double Bonus Poker

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush w/o a wild card.
Four Aces with a kicker pays 2000 coins.
(kicker = 2, 3, or 4 of any suit)

The Good:
800 coins for Four Aces with a chance for 2000 coins
($500 if playing quarters) if you can find a kicker.
400 coins for Four 2's, 3's, or 4's with a chance for 800 coins
($200 if playing quarters) if you can find a kicker.
double double bonus video poker: payout & probability table

The Bad:
Two Pair = too bad only 5 coins.
Some machines only pay 35 coins for a full house.
If experts avoid these machines, you know the odds favor
the casino.  Your money doesn't last long if the machine
doesn't cooperate.
(I get two pair all the time on these machines,
which makes me feel like I'm losing coins.)

Best Win:
I haven't had one yet...
I hope someday soon I will be able to say
I got a four of a kind with a kicker, but until that day
comes, I will continue to complain about the two pair payout.

Locations:
Everywhere...
Just watch out for some of those pay tables...

$500 for four three's with a kicker...
not bad for $1.25 investment.

deuceswild200.jpg (17652 bytes)
Deuces Wild Video Poker
Any deuce (or two) is wild

Jackpot:
4000 coins (or progressive) for a Royal Flush w/o a wild card.
Four Deuces pay 1000 coins, sometimes more
depending on what machine you play.

The Good:
4 wild cards in the deck.  It should be easier to get
better hands.  Playing perfect strategy on a full pay
9/5 machine will result in over 100% payback.
With 9/5 meaning the machine pays 9 to 1 for a straight flush
and pays 5 to 1 for a four of a kind.
For basic strategy, try this link:
video poker: deuces wild strategy

The Bad:
A completely different strategy than regular Jacks or better
video poker.  4 wild cards equals less pay for higher hands,
regardless if you get the hand with or without deuces.
The exception being the royal flush.
(I can't tell you how many times I've had a 4 of a kind without
a wild card.  You get 20-25 coins instead of 125 coins.)

Best Win:
At Bally's (yes, on the strip)...
It was somewhat crowded and a sit down machine was open,
but it had a big stack of big, empty cups/buckets on it.  About 2
feet high.  So, I'm playing it and just treading water, with this huge
stack of cups in front of me that blocks the middle of the screen.
I have to tilt to the left or right to see the cards in the middle of
the hands.  A hand is dealt to me with a deuce in the middle, I hold
it, and hit the draw button.  I see one deuce to my left of my stupid,
tower of cups and one to the right of it.  I know there is one in the
middle.  I peer around the left side and see, deuce, four, deuce.
I then peer around the right side and see, deuce, deuce, deuce.
That's four deuces isn't it?  I look again to the left and to the right
of my lucky stack of cups.  I'm almost certain I have four deuces,
but I can't see them all at once.  Well, my 1000 credits proved
to me I did have it.  Now, I don't move cups off my machines
anymore... maybe I'll start playing with those dirty ash trays.

Locations:
Everywhere with all kinds of variations.
Double Deuces Wild, Triple Pay Deuces, Bonus Pay Deuces.
and everybody's favorite, Loose Deuce...

Don't worry, I got paid 125 for the four of a kind...
I just took the picture while it was shooting out quarters onto the floor...

Treasure Chest Video Poker
Get a 4 of a kind and pick a treasure chest.
Win 140, 180, 250, 500, or 4786 coins.

Jackpot:
4000 coins for a Royal Flush
4796 coins for a 4 of a kind and the jackpot treasure chest.
4796 coins in a quarter machine is $1199.

The Good:
To win the biggest jackpot all you need is a 4 of a kind.
(and some luck!)
Granted, four of a kinds aren't easy to hit, but they are a lot
easier to hit than a royal.

The Bad:
Getting a four of a kind and getting paid "only" 140 coins.
Some of the machines are on the super fast deal mode,
where the cards are dealt in a blink of the eye.
Only available in downtown Las Vegas.

Best Win:
At the Main Street...
Playing Video Poker all day without one four of a kind...
I finally got one around 10pm at night and was fortunate
enough to pick the right treasure chest.  (or hit the button at
the right time).  The chest opened to reveal $1199.00
as the screen went through a cycle of primary background colors.
I ended up with only 2 four of a kinds on the three day trip, but
had nothing to complain about...

Locations:
The Fremont, Cal, and Main Street.
The Fremont and Main Street have green machines while
the Cal has black machines.  I know the Main Street
has dollar Treasure Chest Machines.  I'm not sure if the Cal does.
(Not that I can afford to play dollars...)

Video Poker - Old School Version
The original video poker machines we first started playing.

Jackpot:
4000-4700 coins for a Royal Flush

The Good:
I like the feel and speed of the older machines.
I know it isn't true, but it feels like these machines pay better than
the newer machines.  A lot of people prefer these because
they pay out coins instead of holding credits.

The Bad:
If you have a winning hand on board, say a straight, the machine
won't say "Hey pal, hold all the cards, you have a straight!"
You need a roll of quarters, because they don't have bill acceptors.
Four of a Kind pays 125 coins, no special bonus 4 of a kinds.
Three words: "Hopper Time Out"

Best Win:
At the Vegas Club...
The machine next to me was jammed, not by me.  A tech guy
came by and I let him know.  He opened the machine and pulled
out a Canadian quarter and told me not to put those in the machine.
I didn't do it, but I get the lecture... I showed him though...
later that night, I hit a Royal on that machine worth $1500.00.
"Jam that!"

Locations:
Upstairs at the Cal, where you always see people
playing 3 machines, even though the sign clearly states
"one machine per player".  Downstairs at the Cal, they also have
more quarter machines in the crevices of the gaming floor.  Don't
forget about the 3 carousels of Dollar machines located near Buddha.
Vegas Club boasts a progressive carousel of 8 machines,
my favorite stomping ground.  3 of the 8 machines keep credits.
(I have dibs on the middle credit machine!)
